DONATE
Wesselman Woods impacts over 30,000 people a year but we cannot continue our work without your support.
Wesselman Woods is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Our Non-profit Tax ID (EIN) is available upon request. Please call our office (812-479-0771) or email us.
Your support today does more than maintain the trails or protect the wildlife. It plants the seeds for a forest that will thrive 50 years from now, 100 years from now, and beyond. Imagine the generations who will find peace and inspiration here, just as you have, thanks to the choices you make today.
There are many impactful ways you can contribute to this legacy. Show your support through a tax-deductible contribution.
Other Ways to Give
Animal Ambassadors
- Donate to the Environmental Education department or the animal ambassadors by ordering from their department wishlist.
- You can also support access to Wesselman Woods by sponsoring a student or sponsoring a family membership through the Eco-Access Initiative.
Assets
Another unique way to support our mission is by giving from your assets.
Donations of stocks, bonds, or other assets can provide significant benefits to both you and our organization.
- Tax Benefits: Donating appreciated assets can help you avoid capital gains taxes and receive a charitable deduction.
- Impact: Asset donations can significantly amplify your support of our mission to protect this ancient forest and educate the public on the importance of nature.
- Ease: The process is straightforward, and we are here to assist you every step of the way.
Examples of Donating from Assets
- Donate Appreciated Investments: Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or funds can be more tax-efficient than giving cash. You can generally deduct a portion of the asset’s fair market value and avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
- Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs): If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a QCD directly from your IRA to a qualified charity. The distribution is excluded from your taxable income and it counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD).
- Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs): A DAF allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to charities over time.
- Employer Matching Programs: Many companies offer matching gift programs, where they match the charitable donations made by employees. This can double or your donation’s impact.
